LESSON 1
Solving Percentage Problems
The 3 general formulas below are used to solve percentage problems
P = B x r
B = P/r
r = P/B x 100%
where :
P is the percentage
B is the base
r is the rate
In a 5-6 scheme, there is a 20% interest for the money borrowed
Simple interest is computed on the basis of this equation:
I = Prt
where:
Principal (P) is the money deposited or loaned
Rate (r) is the interest rate expressed in decimal form
Time (t) is the duration of the deposit or loan, expressed in years

LESSON 2
Ratio and Proportion Problems
You can use ratio and proportion to convert from one currency to another
The ratio of the height of an object to the length its shadow is proportional to the ratio of the height of another object to the length of its shadow, so long as the length of the shadows are measured at the same time of the day
Triangles with the same interior angles (the 3 angles inside the triangle) are proportional to each other even though their sizes may be difficult
